La Strada dell' Arte (The Street of Art)Kansas City, Missouri, USA
Early October
DescriptionNearly 250 professional, amateur, student and child street painters, or
madonnari, will assemble to transform pavement into pastel masterpieces during the sixth annual street painting festival in Kansas City. Funds are raised through the sale of sponsorships for each asphalt canvas square, and CHAMELEON, a local organization that develops youth through the arts, is the beneficiary of this year's festival.
Each street painting artist is provided with a square of asphalt that is 4' x 6', 6' x 9', or 9' x 12'. Throughout the two-day street painting festival, patrons stroll among the artists and observe as these asphalt canvases are turned into giant paintings with special pastels provided to the artists by La Strada dell'Arte.
Children and teens attending La Strada dell'Arte will enjoy trying their hand at street painting on Children's Avenue or Teen Street. For a $2 fee at Children's Avenue, aspiring young artists receive chalk and a 2' x 2' pavement square where they may create an original work of art. Teens can create a 3' x 3' masterpiece for $3.
