Oak Hill World's FairAustin, Texas, USA
Early April
DescriptionOak Hill World's Fair
A spectacular, community building, family fun-filled festival to be held on April 5th of 2008 at Fire Lake, on Fitzhugh Rd. off Hwy. 290 West, from noon until 10 pm.
The festival will feature some of the best musical talent the Oak Hill area has to offer, including Cyrill Neville & Tribe 13, two-time Grammy Award winner Floyd Domino, and his hand picked band the Oak Hill All-Stars, Redd Volkaert, Jane Gillman, Austin 9th Brass Band, Uncle Lucius, The Sunset Valley Boys, THAT Damned Band, Bowie Steel Drum Band, Bowie Jazz Ensemble, Austin Chord Rangers, with Lonestar Rollergirls, Nate the Great, and more… Musical performances will be on an island stage in Fire Lake (so called because of it's fire-spewing fountain) and on a smaller acoustic stage under the oaks.
There will be a diverse assortment of entertainers, vendors, food, interactive exhibits, and activities. The Oak Hill World's Fair will also feature the debut of Convict Sledding Hill—the area's first year-round snow sledding experience! The fair also marks the debut of Pyro-palooza, which will culminate in a huge fireworks display.
There will be classic cars, along with many other quirky, creative and educational events, attractions and competitions that exemplify that special Oak Hill state of mind.
Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Oak Hill Trails Association and other Oak Hill Community Groups.
The Oak Hill World's Fair is presented by the Oak Hill Gazette, and sponsored by AMD, CTMRA, Brokers National and Y@71 Professional Building.
