Communities from Hawaii, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Guam, Tahiti, New Zealand, Cook and Marshall Islands celebrate their indigenous culture and arts. Music and songs of the islands and flavors of traditional food are featured throughout the weekend. Artifact exhibits, carving demonstrations, mat weaving, Hawaiian quilting, floral lei (garland) making, tattooing, island sports and games are conducted in Island Villages. An Islander procession and opening ceremony feature traditional costumes.
