The Rochester International Jazz Festival (www.rochesterjazz.com) held in Rochester New York, has quickly become one of the nation’s most popular and most respected music festivals.

Founded in 2002 — attendance at the nine-day Festival has grown each year, from 15,000 the first year to more than 112,000 in year six — attracting music lovers from around the U.S. and the world.

John Nugent, Co-producer and Artistic Director, and Marc Iacona, Co-producer and Executive Director, consistently deliver a multi-dimensional festival with something for everyone. From legendary performers and familiar favorites – to rising stars and new discoveries – this is a festival that navigates all genres of creative improvised music from all corners of the world.

Each year more than 600 musicians gather from around the world to perform in approximately 220 concerts. As one of the nation’s most international music festivals it brings together unique musical sounds from many countries, highlighting international artists' take on the only true American art form, Jazz.

The Rochester International Jazz Festival is held at about 18 indoor and outdoor venues in and around Rochester’s east end cultural district. From elegant concert halls to intimate clubs to vibrant outdoor stages venues — each offers a comfortable setting in which to appreciate and savor the many genres of creative improvised music, all under the auspices of Jazz.

A signature draw for the festival is its European style, allowing festival-goers the opportunity to walk from one venue to another. At another packed festival favorite, nightly jam sessions, you never know who will show up to play! Jazz never sleeps and event proves it as the music goes on into the wee hours. The popular Club Pass is the “pass to discovery,” allowing people all access to club venues and the opportunity to sample a wide spectrum of music. The festival motto is "It's not who you know, it's who you don't know."

In addition to delivering an exhilarating and diverse program of music, the Rochester International Jazz Festival is also proud to make a significant economic impact to the Rochester region, now at an estimated almost $60 million over six years.
