This extremely unusual kind of festival takes place on and around the ruins of the Yamanaka Castle, amid Azalea blossoms in full bloom. Festival participants in full period costume hold a reenactment of a battle that took place during the Sengoku Jidai, or Warring States Period (1467-1568). Seize this rare chance to be thrilled by the magic of this anachronistic event, and learn a little bit about Japanese military history along the way.
