Zabawa Polish Heritage FestivalErie, Pennsylvania, USA
Late August
DescriptionZabawa (pronounced zah – bah- vah) is a Polish word meaning a time to relax and to enjoy with family and friends.
It was an appropriate word to choose in describing what takes place each year here at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church during the fourth weekend of August. Zabawa is our summer festival. And it has been taking place on the fourth weekend of August for fifteen years.
Now in its sixteenth year, it has earned the well-deserved reputation as being Erie’s premier east side summer event. And why not? Where else can one taste authentic Polish food – all homemade from our coveted family recipes? Or taste piwo (that’s Polish for “beer”) imported directly from Poland? And let’s not overlook listening to non-stop live Polka music featuring the very best of Polka bands from throughout this region of the United States . . . and some even from Canada.
But these are only some of the attractions that pull people in from as far away as Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. To be sure, Zabawa is a three-day event, jam packed with fun and activity. And it all takes place right at Holy Trinity located at 23rd and Reed Street. See the website at www.zabawa2009.org for more information
