Green Handshake
Formed in 2005, Green Handshake is committed to bringing you the best of the blues, but in a way that you may not expect. This is not a glossy, smoothified version of "classic" blues. No sir-ee. The Green Handshake is a loose, raw, rough and ready feeling that will pull the jaded freaks outta their faded seats! A locked-in backbeat that swings like the Hef, to get the bunnies a-shakin and the PJ party a-quakin!' A band that makes you feel the blues down to the souls of your holy shoes! Who puts the huckle in the hucklebuck? The ram in the ramalamadingdong? Green Handshake is comprised of Mark Devers (vocals, guitars), Rod Moody (guitar), Randy Steiger (bass), and Jeb Mack (drums). Their combined musical histories include explorations through punk, grunge, jazz, "Yacht Rock," and rock hard rock, but their passion for the blues brought them together via an embarrassing encounter in an online chat room. Um, we'll come back to that later. Green Handshake is not just a cover band - their solid set of original music bring to mind the likes of Richard Hell and Tom Verlaine, Lou Reed and Tom Waits, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, Lewis and Clark, Rowan and Martin, Nixon and Agnew, and so on. Their blues set includes classics and obscurities by the likes of Magic Sam, Junior Parker, Bobby Blue Bland, Tommy Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James, Buddy Guy, and many more. The Handshake is set to break down the barriers and knock around the Seattle music scene till it hurts. We'll give you a drummer who is one of only three in this town that can really swing, a singer whose every word can be heard over the entire band without a mike, a guitarist whose purpose in life is to kill you with one lick, and a bassist who can definitely put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp.
