Cochise Cowboy Poetry and Music GatheringSierra Vista, Arizona, USA
2/12/2010 - 2/14/2010
DescriptionCowboy poetry and music has been part of the West for over one hundred years. Though it is seldom, if ever, heard in motion pictures about the West, it certainly was a part of the working world of cowboys. Cowboy poetry was born as they attempted to relate their event-filled daily life by the light of an open campfire or gathered around the bunkhouse stove. It is perpetuated today by individuals who still believe in “The Cowboy Way.”
The annual Cochise Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering in Sierra Vista, Arizona, continues the tradition of bringing this true Western art form to today’s audience. It is a premier event featuring three days of performances of more than 50 poets and musicians from around the Western States in a variety of different venues: three stage performances, a day of simultaneous thematic programs, jam sessions and more.
Come join us in Southeast Arizona to enjoy cowboy storytellers, poets, singers and musicians as they give tribute to our Western heritage and ranching in the Southwest. The Gathering is held every year on the first consecutive Friday, Saturday and Sunday of February.
