The Gulf Coast area was first settled in the period of history we now call the Renaissance. We celebrate that excitement and the special history of our area through the Gulf Coast Renaissance Fair to bring the commuity back to it’s foundation. This social event has become a community tradition, bringing both entertainment and educaton to the people of the Gulf Coast. Craft demonstrations and informational booths let folks know that the heritage of the early settlers has not been lost. Combat demonstrations and full contact jousting show the crowds how far we have come in our modern century. Rare birds and animal exhibitions give patrons a glimpse of how close our ancestors really lived to nature, and promotes conservation awareness. The Gulf Coast Renaissance Fair is dedicated to showcasing the unique aspect of our region in the rich tapestry of America’s history. Our goal is to promote awareness of the origins of the Gulf Coast and give residents a sense of being connected - to eachother, to the past and to bring the pioneering spirit of our ancestors into the future. We provide concrete examples of self made business persons, overcoming disability and limitation and accepting oneself as a being of potential. The lovely ladies of the bellydancing troupe provide an inspiration to women to defy stereotypes and find self esteem through traditional arts. We are heralding the tidings and encouraging Gulf Coast residents to be a part of the Fair.
