Friends of Columbia State Historic Park will once again sponsor the annual Lamplight Tours at Columbia State Historic Park. This year marks the 27th of these sought-after evening tours. Each tour is led by costumed docents carrying kerosene lanterns. The evening promises to be fun and heartwarming as visitors travel through town and hear all about the happenings of the Christmas season in1859. As this year’s theme “Down but Not Out” states, the population may have been declining, but the spirit of the townspeople was definitely not! Participants will hear some talk of the temperance movement from a ladies quilting meeting, stop in at the firehouse, see some kindness from the prospering merchants of the time and talk with many others along the tour. Music will be provided at a few locations in town and refreshments will be served at the end of the tour.
