CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival, New York City’s largest mu¬sic festival and the world’s most important platform for the discovery of new music, returns to NYC with five nonstop days and nights of over 1200 live performances of artists from over 25 countries and dozens of cutting-edge films in more than 70 of the city’s greatest nightclubs and theaters. CMJ brings together more than 120,000 fans, music business professionals, college radio tastemakers, bloggers, press, artists and filmmakers with panels, seminars, Q&As, an exclusive daytime lounge loft, artist lounge, comedy showcase, nighttime parties, CMJ Community Outreach Initiative, meet and greets, film premieres and special events. CMJ 2009, headquartered at New York University’s Greenwich Village campus and dozens of downtown Manhattan venues, kicks off October 20. The 29th annual festival will host daytime events including panel sessions, registrant lounges, exhibit area and live performances. At night, CMJ Music Marathon will feature performances from the best new artists across multiple genres in the contemporary music spectrum: alternative, rock, dance, hip-hop, metal, Americana, world, jazz and more. CMJ Film Festival will feature cutting-edge film releases from both independent and major motion picture studios.
